The North has seized South Korean assets at the mountain resort, and are now preparing to change the area from a mere tourist area, to a business zone as well, and put in a golf course. In fact, they’ve actually opened it up to group visits from North Koreans and Chinese:
Sounds like a giant middle finger to the South. What’s South Korea to do? Team up with the US, and beef up their cyber defenses against North Korea! What does that have to do with the Kumgang mountain? Nothing at all, but I’m sure someone on either side of the peninsula will find a way to connect the two unrelated cases to each other.
UPDATE, September 2, 2011:
Merchant Vessel converted to cruiseliner, to bring tourists from Rason to Mt. KumGang Tourist site.
